           Summary: Ooo2: Brazilian Portuguese without accents
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: amd64
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: openoffice.org-amd64
        AssignedTo: debzilla at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: rmamacha at ig.com.br
         QAContact: kubuntu-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

I cannot type brazilian portuguese accented caracters in Openoffice.org2 for
AMD64. Neither accents nor cedilla can be inserted. For instance, the caracter
"c" with cedilla appears as simply c, not ç; the tilde appears at the left-hand
side of a caracter like in ~ a (it would be correctly displayed as ã). Accented
caracters would be displayed correctly in 32 bit-Kubuntu. In short, the dead
keys of my US-English keyboard are not functioning, although it's correctly
configured, as can be seen in xorg.conf:

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier    "Generic Keyboard"
    Driver        "kbd"
    Option        "CoreKeyboard"
    Option        "XkbRules"    "xorg"
    Option        "XkbModel"    "pc104"
    Option        "XkbLayout"    "us"
    Option        "XkbVariant"    "intl"
EndSection

Locale output displays as:

LANG=pt_BR.utf8
LC_CTYPE="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_NUMERIC="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_TIME="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_COLLATE="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_MONETARY="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_MESSAGES="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_PAPER="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_NAME="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_ADDRESS="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_TELEPHONE="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="pt_BR.utf8"
LC_ALL=pt_BR.utf8

It seems that dead keys function correctly in all other aplications: in qt-based
ones I only have problems with cedilla, which displays as ć; I have no problems
neither with firefox nor with abiword.
I've installed 32-bit Openoffice2 in a 32-bit chroot environment and accents
function perfectly.
