I have the same problem. I'm running Linux ubuntu 2.6.12-10-386 #1 Fri Nov 18 11:51:02 UTC 2005
i686 GNU/Linux
I have an IBM Thinkpad T40 and I have to manually bring up the wireless network every time I
boot up. My key and dhcp settings are correct in network/interfaces and don't go away, but I
have to run:
sudo ifup eth1
to get on the network. I also have to manually set things instead of using the GUI. I use vi to
edit the files directly.
