The problem is just like this: 
 
the divert has to be set on the index.html of the original ubuntu firefox index page. 
The index.html page must be moved out the way 
and there needs to be a symlink set to the kubuntu index.html which is in a different directory. 
In postrm there has to be a removal of the symlink, a rename from index-ubuntu.html to 
index.html and a remove of the divert. 
 
Looks like I forgot it.
