Summary: acpi lid event not working
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: other
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: UNKNOWN
        AssignedTo: debzilla at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: kurai_yousei at yahoo.es
         QAContact: kubuntu-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
                CC: kurai_yousei at yahoo.es

lid events don't work in kubuntu 5.10 with linux-image 2.6.12-10-686. This cause klaptop_check to trigger
suspend mode every time when login into kde. Also if klaptop_check is run in the command line it tiggers
suspend mode.

Running:
$ cat /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID/state

Shows:
 state: closed
even if lid is open.
$ tail -f /var/log/acpid shows no information when the lid is opened/closed.

but it seems that LID Switch is detected by acpi as dmesg shows:
ACPI: Lid Switch [LID]

packages version:

acpi: 0.09-1
acpi-support: a.46ubuntu1
acpid: 1.0.4-1ubuntu8
linux-image-2.6.12-10-686: 2.6.12-10.24

This is not a critical bug but a very annoying one.

Thank you very much for your great job!

D.
