Ubuntu (kubuntu) | kde

Summary: anti aliasing in KDE doesn't work
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Keywords: kubuntu
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P3
         Component: kde
        AssignedTo: debzilla at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: svloon at xs4all.nl
         QAContact: kubuntu-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

I wrote about my experiences with the Kubuntu final release here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=25958

"With anti aliasing on my fonts don't look very good. Check this
http://www.xs4all.nl/~vanlonen/antialiasing.png screenie. Look carefully and you'll
see that in Konqueror, the “W” in “Window” is very pixelated. It looks like this
everywhere in all KDE apps. But in the OpenOffice window, the fonts are perfect, and
the “W” is not pixelated. So anti aliasing doesn't work very well in KDE, but in
non-KDE apps like OpenOffice it does work? How can this be fixed so anti aliasing
looks better in KDE? I googled for an answer on this, I tried disabling “Hinting
style”, but it doesn't make any difference."

This is a fresh install of the latest Kubuntu. I tried experimenting with the anti
aliasing settings, for example disabling hinting, but it didn't make any difference.
