Summary: Installation does not detect proper video parameters
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: blocker
          Priority: P2
         Component: UNKNOWN
        AssignedTo: debzilla at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: wayne1932 at juno.com
         QAContact: kubuntu-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

Intallation sets default depth in Xorg.conf to 24. My video card only has 2
meg of memory, my monitor can display 1024x768 but not with the depth of 24.
It can handle 16 just fine.

I go around this by editing he Xorg.conf file to change the default depth to 16.

Although I am reporting this in Kubuntu because KDE is my preference, my first
trial with ubuntu was with the gnome desktop and it failed with similar
symptoms. So I suspect it also sets the default to 24.
