Hi,

I have just used Ubuntu Update Manager to update the whole system, and the issue still remains.
My original source disc was the first Ubuntu 5.04 Preview ISO. To install KDE I ran apt-get install kubuntu-desktop, and have been running the 'Ubuntu Update Manager' the last
couple of weeks to ensure everything is kept up to date.

Configuring transpanacy on the kde panel works fine.

I have tried removing my personal .kde & .qt folders to clear the fault without success.
My system is amd64 based with an nvidia graphics card. Kernel 2.6.10-5.
Configuring transpanacy on the kde panel works fine.

If I'm the only person having this issue, then I will wait until the final release, and install from scratch. (In reply to comment #0)
> Menu Translucency & Menu Drop Shadow dont seem to take work. You can change these setting and click apply but the changes are ignored. They dont seem to be saved
> or remembered either. ie.. Click on another tab and then go back to the effects tab and the settings have been defaulted back to their original settings.

> Note: I've tried to make these changes using the default 'plastik' theme which I've used in the past to set translucent menus.
> To reproduce, open KControl, select Appearance & Themes/Style. Then select the Effects tab. Change Menu effect to 'Make Translucent' and check the 'Menu Drop
> Shadow' box. Click on apply to make the change. Now click on another 'Appearance & Themes' option, eg 'Splash Screen' and then click back onto 'Style' - Effects.
> The changes you've just made and been reset back to their original values.
