I patched the kernel package, built it via debuild, purged the packages<br>
with a matching version, verified that /lib/modules/2.6.31-12-generic<br>
was completely removed, installed my new packages, watched dkms do it's<br>
thing with the nvidia module, rebooted, and got the error in the subject in<br>

<br></blockquote><div><br>Do you have CONFIG_MODVERSIONS=n,  That may help or at least get you past this error, you are probablly on your own after that.   My guess is the nvidia driver is not compiled against the kernel you are using. <br>
