The current cycle encountered some delays caused by the vulnerability called
Gather Data Sampling, which only affects Intel processors (CVE-2022-40982),
dubbed Downfall
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downfall_(vulnerability)). The
kernel mitigation that consisted of disabling AVX on systems without the
updated microcode caused some important userspace packages to crash
including
apt, git and gnutils. This led to a round of respins where the
mitigation was
disabled.
The expected release dates should not be affected by this.
