[Hirsute][PATCH 0/2] Fix Hirsute boot fail; bad THP backport

This reverts a bogus backport of a patch from 5.14.y (hunk was applied
to the wrong spot) and replaces it with the corrected backport.

Testing has shown that the bogus backport is certainly the source of the
problem;  Testing of the corrected backport is in progress now by Zack
and Cascardo.
