Ack, thanks Krzysztof. I actually did boot it on amd64.
Also confirmed that the kernel config file in the amd64 buildinfo.deb did not change compared to before adding the arm64 changes (otherwise it is difficult to tell if it actually changed or not just by looking at the configs in the tree).
