Cherry pick request from upstream to 5.4

I would like to request that commit
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/386e15a650447f53de3d2d8819ce9393f31650a4
is cherry-picked to the ubuntu 5.4 kernel as it fixes a critical bug that
causes a crash due to null-pointer dereference and blocks me of using some
important tools at my work.
