Hi Paolo,
I discussed that with Stefan Haberland, who wrote this patch.
Looks like git (for whatever reason) behaved slightly different in removing
lines.
We both agree that (as of today) the generated code is the same, however
patches on top might become tricky...

Since 5.4 is the LTS kernel (not only for us, but also at kernel.org) I
suggest that we pick the stable release backport version to 5.4 (and not my
cherry pick from 5.6) - just having future maintainability in mind. Do you
agree?
