I've applied this to linux-firmware for xenial. However, what you've
done here sending a kernel and linux-firmware patch in the same thread
is confusing, and probably explains why it's sat neglected for so long.
I'd sugest resending the kernel patch as a standalone patch.

You also need to add the SRU justification to the bug.
