We are currently unable to assemble dm raid volumes if they were created
before v4.8.  They are failed due to unsupported "compatible flags".
Following this email is a patch to fix the flag validation.

The fix is making its way to us via stable but the failure
mode is pretty serious.  Proposing for SRU to Yakkety.
