Commit 136d8f3 introduced a regression in v3.11-rc6.  This patch fixes that regression.  This patch is in mainline as of v3.12-rc2.  It was not cc'd to stable, but I sent a message upstream asking to do so.

A test kernel was built with this patch and tested by the original bug reporter.  The bug reporter states the test kernel resolved the bug.
