== Quantal SRU Justification ==

The DVD drive attached to an HP Gen8+ Haswell platform can not be
detected running Ubuntu 12.04.2 or 12.10. The issue is also seen on the
same platform running SuSe. A patch has landed upstream and been CC'd to
upstream stable. The fix has already landed in upstream stable v3.8.7
and been applied to Raring. Please consider this for Quantal.

Luis, please also consider this for your next upstream stable 3.5.x
release.

== Fix ==
~/linux$ git describe --contains b55f84e2d527182e7c611d466cd0bb6ddce201de
v3.9-rc7~41^2~2

While this was not a clean cherry-pick for Quantal, the conflicts were
staight forward and easy to resolve.

== Test Case ==

Boot a kernel without this patch and confirm the DVD drive is not
recognized. Reboot into a kernel with this patch and the DVD drive is
recognized.
