This is something to do with userspace, and not kernelspace. In addition, this is very tricky, if not impossible to do, due to not all sound cards allowing simultaneous recording/playback, or even recording, since they don't have microphones.

I'm going to investigate this in any case, but am not sure how well I will be able to test this, since all sound hardware I have access to, has an audio input of some sort.
