This one looks risky in that sense that it reads to me as if it disables auto 
configuration which did not seem for some codecs. However there might be a 
slight chance that in a few cases this was required to work and will break 
working cases.

Do we need to take over the release changelogs? Or can we leave them and just 
generate a new changelog?

Hm, there is already a sms1xxx driver in the Hardy LUM. But maybe we look at 
that the wrong way. This will go into the lpia branch. So there won't be a 
breaking other cases that much. the lpia branch is just used by lpia and thats it.
