Why does ext4 lose data?

Tim,

thanks for drawing our attention to Ted's wisdom.

So the current solution for ext4 data loss is to tweak down the values
in:

/proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_centisecs 
/proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_centisecs

..to make a more robust ext4 but have the penalty of performance loss.
Worth knowing.
