Using vanilla kernels with encrypted /

That's strange. I have a lab full of (different) machines using
encrypted LVM / that boot the vanilla mainline 2.6.31-rc7 image just
fine.

What error was the vanilla mainline 2.6.31-rc7 image giving you?
