The provenance information for
`/lib/modules/2.6.24-*/ubuntu/char/intel-agp-ich9m' that I am looking
for is not available there.

And, if I may suggest, a list like the following one is easier to
describe the provenance information for the contents of
`/lib/modules/2.6.24-*/ubuntu':

- char/intel-agp-ich9m: ........................... (this module is used
to ....; the external source doesn't explain this because this is
contributed directly by Intel)
- block/drbd: ..............................
