This is a _mammoth_ patch. A significant number of platforms use the
HDA/Sigmatel pairing which this code affects. I'm not _at all_ in favor
of perturbing what is already a somewhat fragile sub-system in order to
facilitate the functionality of a single platform.

Does your patch play nice with these changes?

Given the extent of the proposed changes, I'd rather consider a
patch_sigmatel that is specific to the HP mini which would isolate
regression potential to one platform.
