Though the options given in the previous comments sound to me as if the would 
act differently. The "iwl3945 disable=0" (should in theory be the default) 
should do nothing and "acer-wmi wireless=1" (which is only present in Intrepid) 
would force the radio to be on but should not change whether software rfkill is 
used.
