Git commit 7546e5a03b75043e5dc662bfe8d22551e2a0c714 breakage

Hello,

I was just doing a test build locally to verify that
324fb7ac90178563754128b1199754a7f85c5345 was working with a new driver
provided by a vendor.  I built an out of tree alsa set locally, and
found that upon boot the machine was hanging.  I then decided to grab
the latest available packaged lum and just apply git
commit 324fb7ac90178563754128b1199754a7f85c5345, and then build the
alsa tree.
Things worked properly when I did this, but that also means that
7546e5a03b75043e5dc662bfe8d22551e2a0c714 should not be generally
released as it is causing these problems.
