ATI driver

Hello, friendly kernel-team.
I'd like to direct your attention to Bug #39924. ATI has released new drivers
which add Linux support to the Radeon and Radeon Mobility 1x00 graphics
chips. These chips are used in virtually all[*] current high-end laptops (or
at least, the laptops without Intel integrated graphics). This is a LOT of
laptops. I know, I'm looking.
I'd really really like to see the new driver in Dapper Drake. I think this
would be a very valuable addition. I see it is not in the beta released
today. Now, if your team has made a conscious decision not to add the new
driver, that's fine. But I'd hate to see this ignored simply because nobody
bothered to prod you hard enough. :)
And if there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.
[*] SOME high-end laptops are available with nVidia graphics chips but not
very many. Virtually no Intel Core Duo 15.4" WSXGA laptops ship with nVidia
graphics chips, for example.
