Summary: sym53c8xx floods the system log
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: linux
        AssignedTo: fabbione at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: oliverh at northwestern.edu
         QAContact: kernel-team at lists.ubuntu.com

Upon booting linux 2.6.10 the kernel produces an endless stream of error
messages like "kernel: sym0:0:0:phase change 6-7 11 2c972784 resid=6". Apart
from that, disk access seems to be working fine. The problem is absent in
version 2.6.8. Google finds reports of this problem for other distributions as
well, so it would seem to be an upstream problem.
