This does not seem to be universally true; I have never seen it happen.  My
laptop has always had snd_intel8x0 and snd_intel8x0m loaded, and sound has
always worked perfectly.  I don't see the semaphore messages, either.

I'm interested to know if unloading or blacklisting the module actually makes a
difference for the submitter
