Okay, I can confirm this hang with the Hoary AMD64 LiveCD that I just downloaded.

To reproduce it, I just follow the "Configuration, by hand" instructions on
http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/howto-debian.phtml with the one difference
that I need to do a 'modprobe -i ppp-mppe' to get the MPPE module loaded in the
kernel first.
