My findings until now on this issue....

- Hoary kernel 2.6.10 has this problem, i.e., computer hangs when trying to
configure/access the network.
- Warty kernel 2.6.8 works. Detects the NIC without errors and no hangs. Noticed
that sk98lin version on Warty seems grater than version of the module in 2.6.10?
- Kernel 2.6.9 also works.
- Driver from Intel (avilable from their support pages) does not compile on 2.6.10.
- Latest drivers from SysKonnect versions 8.13 and 8.14beta do compile on kernel
2.8.10. Need to test whether they work.
