I can confirm that eth0 and emu10k1 are listed as sharing IRQ on my box, but
that is the case also using Warty and then the card works fine. In any case, I
just tried with the startup parameters (noapic, nolapic, pci=noacpi and
acpi=off) but none of them made sound work (yes, I did turn up the right
controls in the mixer between tries:-)).

So something else must be wrong.
