I know I can build a new kernel.  The issue is this is for my sister who's not
doing anything too fancy with it.

I can definitely see building less kernels, but why not build an i386-smp and
drop the other ix86-smp ones?  I would love to see/hear what the performance
gain of going to the i686 or k7 over the standard i386 kernel.
