[Bug 652460] [NEW] Kernel oops when using workaround to enable ThinkPad volume keys for software volume

Public bug reported:

When running the command

$ echo enable,0x00ffffff | sudo tee /proc/acpi/ibm/hotkey

in the terminal, or having the line

$ echo enable,0x00ffffff > /proc/acpi/ibm/hotkey

in /etc/rc.local and logging in, Ubuntu 10.10 RC with 2.6.35-22 reports
a serious kernel error. Those commands are, admittedly, a workaround to
allow the hardware volume keys on a ThinkPad laptop (X60 Tablet, in my
case) to change the software volume, but this issue did not occur with
kernel 2.6.32-25 on Ubuntu 10.04.
