Public bug reported:

My Eee Pc occasionally kernel panics on ubuntu, usually once each day, on startup, and sometimes on shutdown. Before it kernel panics, it says something like 'mcu request failed'. When the kernel panic occurs, keyboard and mouse are completely non-responsive and you have to give the machine a hard reboot with the power button. The eee pc has a ralink rt3090 wifi card in it, and uses the 'out of the box' rt2800pci driver (in maverick). In previous kernels (lucid etc) it used the rt2860sta driver, but this still produced the same type of kernel panic.
1) Test ubuntu on an asus eepc, 1001ha
2) Test the machine each day. The network is setup to wpa wireless, auto-connect.
3) You should find similar results.
