Hi,
Ubuntu 10.04 with dlink usb wifi key.
I tried various "solutions" posted here, all to no avail.
The wifi connection is droopped by NM because of a dhcp timeout (as demonstrated by daemon.log).
Assigning a static IP solved the issue.
