I'm experiencing the same cifs performance issue after upgrading our
server from 7.10 i386 server to 10.04 x64 server and connecting to a
ReadyNAS device.

# Backups to ReadyNAS 
//192.168.0.245/backup   /mnt/ReadyNAS cifs noauto,credentials=/etc/cifspw,uid=root,gid=root,dir_mode=0660	0   0

uname -a
Linux server 2.6.32-21-server #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 16 09:17:34 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

mount.cifs -V
mount.cifs version: 1.12-3.4.7
