You mean, does the kernel team agree that (paraphrasing), "There were 
some unsubstantiated claims on the Ubuntu Kernel mailing list that this 
option would incur a performance penalty, however all empirical tests, 
and responses from upstream kernel developers, refute these claims."?

Because that's the scenario.
