Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 10.04.

I tried plugging in a USB stick and I received the following error:

Unable to mount NO LABEL
Error mounting: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1,
       missing codepage or helper program, or other error
       In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail  or so

I assumed it didn't need to be unmounted and I pulled it out.

Immediately a high pitched screech (think scare video or maze game)
blasts out of my speakers for no longer than 1 second. I got scared. If
I was wearing headphones, it could have caused some serious ear damage.

I had very little open: File Browser, Pidgin, Update Manager and a Chess
game.

Output form dmesg:

$ dmesg | tail
