I spent some time to review help resources to fix the here mentioned behavior. My server reports he following:

As the array crashes multiple times a month, this is very annoying. The server has some constant load, the file system partially under heavy load. RAID5 is equipped with 4x WD WD2002FYPS 2TB disks. I use the latest version of the 10.04 Ubuntu server release, also with the latest kernel release.
Happy to test whatever is available to remediate the situation.
