Thanks Henrik / Chase - I'll reinstall on the test machine, reproduce
the issue and attach the new Xorg logs - I'll also try and reproduce
with evdev running from clean install to see whether this change affects
the issue.

Chase - I'll also try and reproduce with the new driver (from
https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/maverick/i386/xserver-xorg-input-
synaptics/1.2.2-2ubuntu4)
