You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Ubuntu 10.04 with all the automatical updates up to date.
I have my system set to SUSPEND when I close the lid of my laptop.
Usually it works fine, and when I open it, I push the power button once in order to resume.
However, now I closed the lid, and when I reopened it, the screen was
black but not turned off.
The computer did not respond; neither moving the mouse nor the touchpad nor clicking nor hitting any key would wake it up.
Pushing the power button, which usually wakes it up after suspending, wouldn't work.
I couldn't restore my session, I could only power off the computer by
holding down the power button; after turning it on again, it did a fresh
boot as if it had been shut down. I lost all my unsaved data.
This is the first time I experience this, this is NOT something that happens all the times; however it is so highly critical that I have to report it, and I attach the syslog in the hope that the cause of the failure can be discovered. Even if this was an issue that only happens every once in a while under some particual conditions that have 1:1000 probability to verify, this needs to be fixed.
If there is any other log file that I can provide to help diagnose the
issue please let me know.
In the attached log, I believe the time when I closed the lid and it
should have suspended was at 16:05
