PulseAudio/ALSA produced the same horrible white noise for me - it did
work once after dual booting into Windows7 and getting the card working
in Windows, rebooting into Linux produced a working soundcard until my
next cold boot.

I ended up getting the sound working with the OSS4 drivers from 4Front
Technologies. Not perfect - I can't get proper surround.

So a working ALSA solution would be nice.
