Public bug reported:
When you are connected to any wireless network on the Packard Bell
EasyNote MZ35, and have no AC power plug connected, then the system
freezes. When you were connected to a wireless network and had power,
but unplug the power cable, then the system will freeze at the exact
moment Notify OSD shows the notification bubble that tells you how many
time there is left.
Setting all possible GNOME Power Management actions to 'nothing' in
GConf does not solve the problem. It does look a bit like the system
tries to suspend, but that is not proven by the log files or by the
behaviour of the system when most GNOME Power Management actions are
disabled.
The network chip is a 'RaLink RT2561/RT61' and has been causing problems with previous kernels (around hardy).
I'm using the open source 'radeon' driver for the ATi Radeon Xpress 200M, because the official ATi driver does not support this card anymore.
This bug is a regression since this was no issue in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx,
but is in Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat.
