Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.35-22-generic

In a freshly installed Ubuntu Maverick, the USB 2.0 connection to the
external Western Digital 1TB Hard Disk (connected through a USB PCI
card), periodically fails. Under high load, for example when playing a
high definition movie (~ 1,2 MB/s) through the network, the USB
connections resets for some seconds. In my case this causes that the
playback device which is playing the movie through the network hangs. It
also happens when trasferring files.

In dmesg, each time it happens, you can see this message a couple
times:

Oct 25 21:10:00 server kernel: [ 1179.152068] usb 1-4: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2
