Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Ubuntu 10.10 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64
pulseaudio: Installed: 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu21
Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs [SB Live! Value] EMU10k1X

This bug has been discussed over in the forums
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1592093) and is affecting
multiple users.

After upgrade from Lucid to Maverick all audio is playing too fast
regardless of the file type (mp3, flac, avi, etc.) or application used
(Totem, Rythmbox, VLC, etc.). Running top command during playback shows
pulseaudio is also using way to much CPU (80-100%).

We've noticed that this only occurs when using the 2.6.35-22 kernel. If
using the 2.6.32-25 kernel left-over from Lucid upgrade audio playback
is fine with normal CPU usage.

While audio is playing syslog is also flooded with messages of the type:
pulseaudio[1623]: ratelimit.c: 103 events suppressed
