[Bug 661105] [NEW] (Maverick) Hibernate does not power off laptop and cause system freeze, hard reset required

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After clicking "Hibernate" a system totally freezes, showing blank
screen with cursor "_".

The bug is reproducible.

The laptop:
- Samsung X120 (X118), CPU - Celeron 743 ULV, 2GB RAM, Intel GMA 4500MHD video.

OS:
- Ubuntu Maverick x86, upgaded from Lucid before final release. While upgrade status of Maverick was RC.

The bug just arised only after upgrade to Maverick, there was no such
bug in Lucid and Karmic.
