I just tried booting linux-image-2.6.35-02063504-generic and linux-
image-2.6.35-02063507-generic from the mainline kernel ppa, and they do
not show these error messages (although they are no faster booting, and
just sit there with a blinking cursor at the point where the Ubuntu
kernel shows the errors).  Since Debian systems also seem to be affected
by this, I think that there is a good chance that this is the result of
some Debian (not Ubuntu)-specific kernel change.
