Hi,

I have a Dell E6410with intel i915 gfx chip.
I have same issue after release of 10.10 kubuntu and updated kernel  (2.6.35-22-generic)
Release 10.04.1 did same, as did most recent updates
using 64 bit all the way...

when I specify "nomodeset xforcevesa" by editing grub on boot, I drop to
console

without, I boot to black, but when I plug in an external monitor I have
a display.

shame we didnt get a workaround into 10.10 release... :/   (not a criticism ;) )
I'm open to test if anyone has any suggestions....
