** Description changed:
When I enable ALSA and S/PDIF output in for example VLC or mplayer, my
whole screen starts blinking upon video playback. It affects the desktop
as well. The screen colours/contrast keep blinking with a constant
frequency until I stop the video playback. It does not matter which
video output I use or what kind of video I am playing (happens with all
codecs I tried). I am using an Intel G45 integrated video and audio with
Intel's own graphics driver. Video is connected through DVI and audio
through the optical connector.
This bug only affects Ubuntu 10.10 - in 10.04 everything worked. I am
running the 64 bit variant. I do not know whether this happens in the 32
bit version.
I also do not know whether the bug is in the Intel drivers, ALSA, xorg
or the video players themselves, or even somewhere else.
