Try to edit /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf (sudo gedit /etc
/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf in the console)  and change the line
MODULES=most to MODULES=dep.

Then use Synaptic to reinstall initramfs-tools like "durlo" suggested.

It's not perfect, but it works.
